Exploring Shrew Habitats: Behind the Scenes in Udzungwa and Rungwe

Earlier this month, our research team set out on a challenging journey through the Udzungwa and Rungwe Mountains as part of our ongoing study on two endangered shrew species—Congosorex phillipsorum and Myosorex kihaulei. This blog shares a glimpse of the real work behind conservation: walking long distances through thick forest, setting traps, recording data, and monitoring habitat conditions. The fieldwork is physically demanding, but each step brings us closer to protecting these unique mammals and the ecosystems they depend on.
